Painting Cost Calculation
Total Cost = Materials Cost + Labor Cost
Where:
• Materials Cost = Paint gallons × Price per gallon + Supplies
• Labor Cost = Hours × Hourly rate
• Wall Area = 2 × (Length + Width) × Height
• Paint Needed = Wall Area ÷ Coverage per gallon × Coats
Standard Coverage:
• Economy paint: 400 sq ft/gallon
• Premium paint: 350 sq ft/gallon
• Primer: 300 sq ft/gallon
Example Calculation
Example: 12×10×9 ft Room
Wall Area: 2 × (12+10) × 9 = 396 sq ft
Less windows/doors: -30 sq ft = 366 sq ft
Paint needed: 366 ÷ 350 = 1.05 gallons per coat
For 2 coats: 2.1 gallons total
Materials: 2.5 gallons × $30 = $75
Supplies: $25
Labor: 4 hours × $60 = $240
Total: $75 + $25 + $240 = $340
