Calculate the perfect coffee to water ratio for different brew methods. Find ideal measurements for pour over, French press, espresso, and more.
Step 1: Select Brew Method
Understanding Coffee Ratios
Coffee to water ratio determines strength. A 1:16 ratio means 1g coffee to 16g water. Standard range: 1:15 to 1:18. Adjust based on taste preference and brew method.
Step 2: Brewing Options
Brewing Guidelines
Pour Over: Medium-fine grind, 92-96°C water, 3-4 min brew
French Press: Coarse grind, 90-96°C water, 4-5 min steep
Espresso: Fine grind, 92-95°C water, 25-30 sec extraction
Cold Brew: Coarse grind, cold water, 12-24 hours steep

Coffee Brewing Tips
Grind Consistency
Use a burr grinder for consistent particle size. Blade grinders create uneven particles leading to uneven extraction. Match grind size to your brew method.
Water Quality
Use filtered water with balanced minerals (50-100 ppm TDS). Avoid distilled or heavily mineralized water. Good water = better extraction.
Brewing Technique
Pre-wet your filter to remove paper taste. Bloom freshly ground coffee with 2x its weight in water for 30 seconds. Pour in circular motion for even extraction.
Storage & Freshness
Store coffee beans in airtight container away from light, heat, and moisture. Grind just before brewing. Use within 2-4 weeks of roast date.
