Voltage Doubler Calculator — Circuit Design & Analysis

Voltage Doubler Calculator

Calculate voltage doubler circuit parameters, component values, and output characteristics. Design and analyze voltage multiplier circuits for your electronics projects.

Step 1: Circuit Parameters

Voltage Doubler Types

Half-wave doublers use 2 diodes & 2 capacitors. Full-wave doublers use 4 diodes & 2 capacitors. Cockcroft-Walton multipliers can achieve higher multiplication factors.

Step 2: Components

Component Selection

Higher capacitance reduces ripple voltage. Fast recovery diodes are recommended for high frequency applications. Voltage ratings should exceed calculated peak voltages.

Voltage Doubler Formula

Vout = 2 × (Vin_peak – Vdiode) – Vripple

For half-wave doubler: Vout = 2×(√2×Vin_rms – Vd) – (I_load / (f×C)). Full-wave has less ripple. Cockcroft-Walton: Vout = N×(√2×Vin_rms – Vd) where N is number of stages.
