Scale Factor Calculator
Calculate scaled dimensions, area & volume scaling factors. Enter original measurements and scale factor to get precise results for models, maps, blueprints, and design projects.
Step 1: Original Dimensions
Original Measurements
Enter the dimensions of the object, drawing, or space you want to scale. Height is optional; if set to zero, area scaling (2D) is assumed.
Step 2: Scale Factor
About Scale Factor
Scale factor = scaled dimension / original dimension. For area, multiply by (scale factor)². For volume, multiply by (scale factor)³.
Scaled Measurements
Scaled Dimensions (Length × Width × Height)
Scaling Factors & Ratios
Interpretation
A scale factor of 1.50 means each dimension is multiplied by 1.50. Area becomes 2.25 times the original, and volume becomes 3.38 times the original.
Original vs Scaled
| Dimension | Original | Scaled |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 10.00 ft | 15.00 ft |
| Width | 8.00 ft | 12.00 ft |
| Height | 5.00 ft | 7.50 ft |
Scale Factor Effect on Area & Volume
Mathematical Formulas
Scaled Dimension = Original × k
where k is the scale factor. For area, multiply original area by k². For volume, multiply original volume by k³.
Example: If original rectangle is 10×8 ft (area 80 ft²), with k=1.5, scaled area = 80 × (1.5)² = 80 × 2.25 = 180 ft².
