Hexadecimal Calculator
Convert between hex, decimal, binary, and octal. Perform addition, subtraction, bitwise AND/OR/XOR. See binary bit representation.
Step 1: Choose operation & enter numbers
Hexadecimal basics
Base‑16: digits 0‑9 and A‑F. Prefix 0x optional. Common in computing for compact binary representation.
Step 2: Display options
Common bases
Binary: base‑2 (0,1)
Octal: base‑8 (0‑7)
Decimal: base‑10 (0‑9)
Hexadecimal: base‑16 (0‑9, A‑F)

Conversion & operation formulas
Hexadecimal → Decimal
Multiply each digit by 16ⁿ (rightmost n=0). Example: 0x1A3 = 1×256 + 10×16 + 3 = 419
Decimal → Hexadecimal
Repeated division by 16, remainders become hex digits (10→A, etc.)
Binary/Octal conversion
Group binary bits in fours for hex, in threes for octal. Each group translates directly.
Bitwise operations
AND: 1 only if both bits 1. OR: 1 if at least one 1. XOR: 1 if bits differ.
