The constant 5252 comes from the relationship between foot-pounds, minutes, and horsepower. One horsepower is defined as 550 foot-pounds per second, and there are 60 seconds in a minute, so:
1 HP = 550 ft-lb/s × 60 s/min = 33,000 ft-lb/min
Since we’re working with RPM (revolutions per minute) and torque (ft-lb), we divide by 2π to convert to radians:
33,000 / (2 × π) ≈ 5,252
