Tree Fertilizer Calculator
Calculate how much fertilizer your trees need for optimal growth and health. Determine proper application rates, nutrient requirements, and cost estimates based on your tree types and soil conditions.
Step 1: Tree Information
Tree Measurement Guide
Measure trunk diameter at 4.5 feet above ground level (DBH). For multiple trunks, measure the largest. Mature trees generally need more fertilizer than young trees.
Step 2: Fertilizer & Soil
Fertilizer Application Rate
General rule: 1-2 lbs of fertilizer per inch of trunk diameter. Young trees need less, mature trees more. Always follow manufacturer instructions for specific products.

Fertilizer Calculation Formula
Fertilizer per Tree = Trunk Diameter × Tree Type Factor × Soil Factor × Application Rate
Total Fertilizer = (Fertilizer per Tree × Number of Trees) ÷ Bag Size (rounded up). Application rate is typically 1.5 lbs per inch of trunk diameter for most trees.
