Ceiling Lighting Calculator
Calculate ceiling light fixtures, spacing, and layout needed for optimal room illumination. Estimate lighting requirements and costs for any room.
Step 1: Room Dimensions
Room Type & Lighting Requirements
Different rooms require different lighting levels. Living rooms need 10-20 lumens/sq ft, kitchens 30-40, offices 50-75, and workshops 75-100 lumens/sq ft.
Step 2: Lighting Parameters
Light Spacing Guidelines
For even lighting, space fixtures at 1/2 the ceiling height. Example: 8 ft ceiling = fixtures 4 ft apart. Place fixtures 3 ft from walls.

Layout Recommendations
Based on your room dimensions of 15×12 ft, we recommend a grid of 4×3 fixtures (12 total). Place first fixture 3 ft from each wall, then space remaining fixtures evenly at 4.5 ft intervals.
Recommended 4×3 grid layout (12 fixtures total)
| Fixture # | Position from Wall | Distance from Previous | Lumens |

Lighting Calculation Formula
Fixtures = (Room Area × Desired Lumens/ft²) ÷ Lumens per Fixture
Calculate total lumens needed (area × lumens per sq ft), then divide by lumens per fixture. Spacing = Ceiling Height ÷ 2 for even illumination.
