Edging Calculation Formula
Linear Feet = Perimeter of Area
For Rectangle/Square:
• Perimeter = 2 × (Length + Width)
For Circle:
• Circumference = 2 × π × Radius
Number of Pieces:
• Pieces = (Linear Feet × 12) ÷ Piece Length (inches)
Total Cost:
• Cost = Pieces × Price per Piece
Example Calculation
Example: 20×30 ft Rectangle with 12″ Plastic Edging
Length: 20 feet
Width: 30 feet
Piece Length: 12 inches
Price per Piece: $2.50
Calculation:
Perimeter = 2 × (20 + 30) = 100 ft
Pieces = (100 × 12) ÷ 12 = 100 pieces
Cost = 100 × $2.50 = $250.00
Add 10% waste factor:
110 pieces × $2.50 = $275.00 total
