Submersible Pump Calculator
Calculate pump performance, flow rate, head requirements, and power consumption. Determine the right submersible pump specifications for your application.
Step 1: Pump Specifications
Hydraulic Power Formula
Hydraulic HP = (Flow Rate × Total Head × Specific Gravity) / (3960 × Efficiency)
Where Specific Gravity of water = 1.0
Step 2: Application & Options
Common Pump Applications
Domestic: 10-30 GPM, 50-150 ft head
Agricultural: 30-100 GPM, 100-300 ft head
Industrial: 100-500+ GPM, 200-500+ ft head
Drainage: 50-200 GPM, 30-100 ft head

Pump Performance Formulas
Hydraulic Power (HP) = (Q × H × SG) / (3960 × η)
Where:
• Q = Flow Rate (GPM)
• H = Total Head (feet)
• SG = Specific Gravity (1.0 for water)
• η = Pump Efficiency (decimal)
To convert:
• 1 HP = 0.7457 kW
• 1 GPM = 3.785 L/min
• 1 foot = 0.3048 meters
Example Calculation
Example: Domestic Water Supply Pump
Flow Rate: 25 GPM
Total Head: 120 feet
Efficiency: 65%
Calculation:
Hydraulic HP = (25 × 120 × 1.0) / (3960 × 0.65) =
3000 / 2574 = 1.17 HP
Shaft Power = Hydraulic HP / Efficiency =
1.17 / 0.65 = 1.8 HP
Converted:
1.8 HP = 1.34 kW
