Waist-to-Height Ratio Calculator
Calculate your waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) to assess health risks. A simple measure to determine if your waist circumference is healthy for your height.
Step 1: Your Measurements
How to Measure Waist
Measure around your waist at the midpoint between the bottom of your ribs and the top of your hips. Keep the tape parallel to the floor.
Step 2: Personal Details
Healthy Ratio Guidelines
• Low risk: Ratio below 0.5
• Moderate risk: Ratio 0.5-0.6
• High risk: Ratio above 0.6
For Asian populations, threshold is 0.5 for both genders.

Waist-to-Height Ratio Formula
Waist-to-Height Ratio = Waist Circumference ÷ Height
Where:
• Waist Circumference = Measured at narrowest point between ribs and hips
• Height = Your total height
• Both measurements should be in the same units (inches or cm)
Interpretation:
• Ratio < 0.5 = Low health risk (healthy)
• Ratio 0.5-0.6 = Moderate health risk
• Ratio > 0.6 = High health risk
Note: This is a screening tool, not a medical diagnosis.
Example Calculation
Example: 32″ waist, 64″ height
Waist: 32 inches
Height: 64 inches
Calculation:
32 ÷ 64 = 0.50
Interpretation:
Ratio of 0.50 indicates moderate health risk
To be in low risk category, waist should be less than 32 inches for this height.
