Rebar Calculator
Calculate the rebar needed for your concrete project. Understand how slab dimensions, rebar spacing, and rebar size affect the amount of steel reinforcement required.
Step 1: Slab Dimensions
Understanding Slab Dimensions
Longer and wider slabs require more rebar. Thicker slabs may need additional reinforcement layers. Standard slabs are typically 4-6 inches thick for residential projects.
Step 2: Rebar Specifications
About Rebar Sizing
Rebar size is designated by number (#3, #4, #5, etc.) which corresponds to the diameter in eighths of an inch. #4 rebar (1/2″ diameter) is most common for residential slabs. Closer spacing provides stronger reinforcement.

Rebar Calculation Formula
Total Length = (Length/Spacing + 1) × Width + (Width/Spacing + 1) × Length
The rebar calculation determines bars needed in both directions. Multiply by 2 for double layer. Add 10-15% for overlaps and waste. Standard 20-foot rebar lengths are assumed.
