Post Hole Concrete Calculator
Calculate the amount of concrete needed for fence posts or other post holes. Determine the number of bags of concrete required and the total cost.
Step 1: Post Hole Details
Understanding Post Hole Concrete
Concrete is typically sold in 40, 60, or 80 lb bags. Each bag yields approximately 0.3, 0.45, or 0.6 cubic feet of concrete respectively. Always add 10% extra for waste.
Step 2: Concrete & Cost
Concrete Bag Coverage
A 60 lb bag yields approximately 0.45 cubic feet of concrete. For a 10″ diameter hole that’s 2 feet deep, you’ll need about 1.09 cubic feet of concrete, or roughly 2.5 bags.

Concrete Volume Analysis
Concrete Calculation Formula
Volume per Hole = π × (Diameter/2)² × Depth
For cylindrical holes: π × radius² × depth. For rectangular holes: width × length × depth. Always convert measurements to consistent units (feet) before calculating. Add waste factor (typically 10%) to the total volume.
